yesterday I went to cinematheque in Seoul in order to watch 2 spanish cinema, "El angel exterminador(english title is The Exterminating Angel)", "El Sur(The South in english)".
The exterminating Angel was directed by Luis Buñuel as you know and The south was by Victor Erice.
Im going to write about the exterminating angel soon. It's a little curious because I was confused about why they couldnt go out of the house.
in almost end of it I could think the director's intention.
it's so great...
Victor Erice is not renowned to the public. He has made movies from 1960s. However, the number of his long films is only 4. He made one every ten years.
I saw his 2nd long film, "El Espíritu de la colmena(The Spirit of the Beehive)".
Its a little shocking because it seemed to have a new style, hue, atmosphere among other spanish cinema Ive ever seen .
the composition of The South is similar to it. It shows the girl's memory of the father with flashback. And I could see the reality of Spain at that time(under Franco). Of course, the reality influences the girl's family. Then father went to the south in the first of the movie already, the daughter dreams about the south.
But I don't know well about Victor Erice and his films as well.
I missed i didnt watch them twice. This program already finished yesterday.
And El Séptimo día(the 7th day) by Carlos Saura was shown. that is missing too.
the picture is the poster of "Spanich cinema", you can find the names of directors, if you see the picture of original size.
