Sakebi

I watched a movie, Sakebi(english title is 'retribution') , means 'scream' last saturday and could listen to the explaination about the film from the director, Kurosawa Kiyoshi.(he visited Seoul last week)

Mainly he continues to make Horror movies, so called J-Horror, the genre of Sakebi is also.
actually i don't like horror movies, but his movies have something different from other styling.
in this movie we can see the ghost is walking(like a human), flopping down, and flying to move to another places.
Think other horror movies. Always ghosts apear and warp suddenly for surprising audience.
the ghost hobbles is a little fun and embarrassing me.
Kiyoshi said because ghosts come from human they can walk and wondered how they move. He tries to make a new thing anyone didn't.
He said 'it has also the social meaning, Because the ghost apear before each person not one person in this film.'

and asked What makes me feel fear.
this film tell that the causes of fear are diverse but related to my society.
a horrible sight of a moment or a sudden appearance of ghost makes me feel fear, a lasting fear is the worst, though.
Kiyoshi told a lasting fear come from a society.
Another his talk.
Our society is continuously progressing and developing forward, However, Don't you have anything to forget?
Or Does your society force you to forget ?
that is to say, Are you Happy?
If you are unhappy, is it from your society?
Which does your society give you hope or despair in your future?

Have a good time with kiyoshi's films.
p.s. in his films there is a person as an antithesis against a hero or heroine(almost a man).
He can see another himself
it is able to be great or miserable thing.
and we can adopt or deny.
