I went to SeonWoon-sa(temple) during this vacation as I wrote before. There is a steam near the temple. We took a walk along the stream, then I got exhausted easily of the hot, humid weather. Finally I gave up strolling.
While they walked ahead, I went into the stream barefoot and sat on the small rock for a while. At that time I took several pictures of scenary like that.

It was very calm, the wind was blowing softly. I thought It was a real vacation for me. If I had more time and got a book, I would spend long time there.

saw 3 of Howard Hawks

I was in Filmforum last saturday for Howard Hawks' retrospectives and saw 3 of them,
Sergent York, Rio Lobo and Gentlemen prefer blondes.
I have seen his another film, Big sleep starred by Humphrey Bogart, long time ago, after that I really like him. He did never care who is the criminal, but the processes of investigations. The shapes that scenes make is very interesting. Hawks himself also told a plot is not important in the film. Indeed, His films are out of Hollywood styling and editing.(for example, when someone meet, we can see the cuts, master shot, two-shot, one-shot(a man), and one shot(another man) in order.

Rio Lobo and Sergent York are also interesting for me, because of the differences of the other comtemporary films. but I dont know why. I couldnt agree something on the films. It may be relative with my political beliefe, a politically rightness, something like that. In western Its impossible to find african-american, and finally killing in war is acceptable because of buddies in arm.
Dispite of those, all are very fun. His films are not bored and annoyed.

I went on a vacation this summer to Bu-an. During the vacation I was on a beach twice. Friends didnt want to go into the sea because its not clear and annoying to clean their feet.
But I could not go without soaking my feet in the sea.

We can see Monet's until 26th September in Seoul Musium of Art.
I think Claude Menet is the beginning of modern art. He is known as impressionist but his styling and work affected many modern artist. The great thing was that I can see WATER LILIES, not many of his works come though.
This exhibition deserve to be seen defintely.

Retrospectives of Ingmar Bergman and Howard Hawks

2 retrospecives are held in Seoul this month. They are Ingmar Bergman and Howard Hawks. Bergman's rertospecive are decided before his death, so I think its more meaningful. We can meet his 7 works. Ive seen some of them. During the same days retrospective of Howard Hawks is held.
I should choose where to go. As you know I ve seen some films of Bergman and Bergman's retrospective were held a few years ago. This Bergman's film might be more meaningful than Hawks, but Howard Hawks' films are more attractive.

Bergman is in Nada, Hawks is in Filmforum.
I will get to Filmforum this weekend.

Michelangelo Antonioni, Ingmar Bergman die.

On 30th July, I read a news of the death. He was Ingmar Bergman, a Swedish director, and that afternoon I heard a news of Michelangelo Antonioni's death again.
Those were sad news for me. Although I didn't saw their all films, I know they are great directors of the world.

July, 2007. Its the saddest month of film world.
